Have you ever woken up from what can only be described as a nightmare that all your teeth have fallen out, we’ve all been there and as good as veneers are these days it’s always nice to hold on to your own teeth for as long as possible. This week I have been trying the Corsodyl range toothpaste and mouthwash, I was approached by the pegasus group to help promote healthy gums along side ‘national smile month’.
The set they kindly sent me included 6 travel size corsodyl toothpastes a large bottle of mouth wash and an eye mask to help prevent any more bad dreams. If like me you are used to the minty delights of aquafresh and colgate then this toothpaste will require some getting used to and you’ll be glad of the mouthwash after, the recipe includes sodium bicarbonate to also help remove plaque as you brush but in turn this means its has a slightly strange taste.
Know the Symptoms –
1. Red gums
2. Puffy/swollen gums
3. Bad breath
4. Bleeding gums
After using the mouthwash you can instantly feel it working to clean your gums leaving your mouth feeling fresh. I’ll definitely be switching my mouthwash to this in the future. It also creates a protective layer over your teeth and gums for up to 12 hours.
The 6 steps to maintaining healthy gums –
- Brush teeth twice a day for at least two minutes
- Use a fluoride mouthwash twice daily
- Use a toothbrush with soft or medium end-rounded bristles
- Use dental floss to clean the space between your teeth where plaque can hide
- Visit your dentist and hygienist regularly
- If you smoke, quit!
My hygienist also recommended switching to an electric toothbrush last time I visited and I have found this makes such a difference to keeping your mouth clean and fresh.
Why it is important to prevent plague building up –
‘If gum disease is left untreated a condition called periodontitis can develop in many people where the effects of bacterial plaque leads to gums swelling, bleeding and a loss of the bone that supports the teeth. Without early diagnosis and preventative action teeth can become loose and fall out.’ Dr. Turner
Not only am I helping prevent the lose of teeth but my mouth feels fresher and my teeth whiter and I can smile with confidence.
Happy national Smile Month! Be proud of yours, look after your mouth!
