Paddle Boarding With Park Lives

Paddle Boarding

Location, Highfields Boating Lake, Nottingham

This week myself and my younger sister Lucy got to go Paddle Boarding with Park Lives, which is an organisation that has been set up and is sponsored by Coca Cola to get the most out of your local parks and try new and different activities all for free, all you have to do is sign up for the class or activity. It is also a great opportunity to meet new people and try something you’ve always wanted to do or an activity you didn’t even know existed. You can sign up for sunrise Yoga, Canoe Rafting and Nordic Walking to name a few, see more here and sign up – www.parklives.com.

I have been Paddle Boarding twice before, the first was on the Norfolk sea on what I can only describe as the windiest day ever, I think I spent more of the time in the water than on the board but I did stand up my Dad just had a panic and thought he was going to have to go and get the lifeguard after I had drifted half way down the coast, properly not the best first time but I loved it so much that me and Lucy also went at Holme Pierrepoint. They have a small lake and you can hire your boards, neither of us really knew what we were doing though and kept crashing in to the banks.

So this one hour session with SUP yoga and fitness UK was a great way to actually learn how to Paddle Board properly, with lots of  encouragement and clear guidance on how to turn the board around and actually feel like you are in control, not only is it a great workout for your core muscles but I found it really relaxing and you can be of any ability, some people had never been on a board others had a little more experience. They have lots of other events and classes too which you can sign up for and follow Cassie’s adventures here – www.supfitness.co.uk.

Park Lives is such a great organisation for people of all ages and abilities, I just wish I had know about it sooner, me and Lucy already want to sign up for our next Paddle Boarding session.

Lucy – “I really enjoyed it because it’s relaxing and it works your whole body even though it doesn’t feel like you are working out!”

Which activity will you be signing up for?
